Is it advisable to take the artificial color out of my hair? I want to 'go natural'.?

I've been coloring my hair for almost ten years. Now, I want it to go away *but* I also don't want to cut my hair. There are color-removers available. Would my hair end up purple/green or fall out? I've had cancer and don't wanna be bald again.

Yes, unfortunately they don't make grey haircolor! Color removers work reasonably well, but they'll never remove every bit of color from your hair. Especially if your current color is lighter than your natural ( for example, if your hair is grey with a little brown, and you've been coloring it a light brown or blonde. Your natural color would have been lifted, and no color remover can restore it to it's natural darker shade.) Your best option might be to start using a semi-permanent color, same shade as the permanent color you now have. It will fade out in 4-6 weeks, but just continue doing this until you've cut off the ends with the permanent color. This way you won't have to live with just growing it all out, and having horrible roots. Good luck!

Try coloring your hair like your natural shade at first so you dont see a drastic change.. and then just let the color fade so that it could blend with your new hair.

As a hairdresser its hard to give a consultation on line without seeing your hair, firstly you don't give the colour of your processed hair and what condition its in if you can provide these i would be quite happy to give you some advice, but the best thing really is to seek out reputable salon in your area and book a consultation with a qualified senior stylist.

good luck x

unfortunatly you will hav to let time work its wonders as i wouldnt recomend useing a grey hair dye over brown good luck x

i don't think that your hair would turn any weird colors if you were to seek the advice of a professional that is my only advice.

The safest thing you could do is choose a colour very close to your original one and dye your hair for the last time. This way, you don't need to cut your hair. I wouldn't recommend using all the colour remover stuff because some can be a little harsh on your scalp.

Best of luck!
